UCSF Koret Vision Research Laboratory, San Francisco
Completed on 3/1/2002
Complete renovation of a third floor ophthalmology laboratory at UCSF’s Koret Vision Center where research is conducted on the visual cortex of humans and monkeys to determine how visual perception occurs in the brain. The lab contains cage wash equipment, surgery areas, a computer analysis center, office space and a built-in vivarium to house monkeys. The project also included the addition of new rooftop HVAC equipment and structural steel framing supports.
Due to UCSF’s highly congested environment as well as adjacent, occupied facilities during this renovation, all subcontractors and materials handling had to be carefully assessed and coordinated throughout the project.
