New, two-story 5,881 square foot fire station facility in San Mateo’s Lakeshore Park containing administration offices, dormitory-style sleeping rooms, a weight room, and a steel-framed bay housing two engines, a medical clean-up room and an equipment storage and repair area.
Due to the project’s location atop Bay Mud, sitework included complex concrete foundations and slabs, 38 steel-reinforced drilled concrete piers (ranging in depths between 45 and 55 feet) and grade beams. Building construction consisted of wood framing, all mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems as well as an emergency power generator. Additionally, landscape improvements were completed along the front and side street frontages.
