Multi-phase seismic upgrade completed at the San Mateo County Hall of Justice and Records Building in downtown Redwood City. Work included installation of steel panel connections between the building frame and exterior, pre-cast concrete panels on the 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th floors, as well as abatement of asbestos-fireproofing and lead paint and the installation of steel braces.
The final seismic phase included the installation of viscoelastic dampers at each of the new braces on every floor, as well as retrofitting the exterior pre-cast concrete roof panels. All work took place during off-hours due to the proximity of the Superior and Municipal Courtrooms, Judges' Chambers and government offices located throughout the building.
