Complete seismic restoration was completed for the County of San Mateo at the historic Old County Courthouse Building in two phases. In the first phase, G&S used an innovative technique of center-coring fifty foot, 6" diameter holes through the exterior masonry walls from the parapet level into the existing foundations as well as further window and exterior sandstone panel reinforcement.
The second phase included further sandstone reinforcement using over 3,500 drilled special stainless steel expansion anchors. Additionally, select sandstone sills and blocks that were displaced during the Loma Prieta Earthquake were reset along with the realignment of over 2,000 LF of masonry joints.
* The San Mateo County Courthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Sensitivity, proper handling and complete protection to all historic finishes and features were maintained by Gonsalves & Stronck throughout all phases of construction.
