LOCATION: San Jose, CA
CLIENT: City of San Jose
ARCHITECT: RRM Design Group
New two-story, two-company fire station which houses three shifts of 10 firefighters each and three apparatus bays built on a 1-acre site in a semi-industrial neighborhood in San Jose.
Designed for LEED certification, the building includes materials with low embodied energy and high recycled content and utilizes optimal daylighting. Other sustainable highlights include drought tolerant native plants and rock landscaping; installation of low-flow fixtures for sinks, lavatories and showers; and all bunkrooms are equipped with individual VAV boxes, ceiling fans, and operable windows to allow for maximum user comfort and control.
